En montant ce texte, après Blier ou encore Thomas Bernhard, on peut dire que vous êtes un adepte de l’humour noir ?
Yvon Lapous : J’ai toujours apprécié les grands pessimistes comme Kafka ou Beckett.En fait, ce que j’aime, c’est quand il y a une contrepartie à l’humour. Mais ma référence par-dessus tout, c’est Harold Pinter qui propose un théâtre qui ressemble à l’expérience humaine, là où la dureté et l’humour vont au-delà des principes psychologiques.

Que raconte ce Voyage d’Alice en Suisse ?
Y.L : C’est un texte qui fonctionne sur la rapidité : 24 séquences s’enchaînent en moins d’une heure vingt. Son sous-titre dit bien ce qu’il raconte : « scènes de la vie de l’euthanasiste Gustav Strom ». Ce Strom est un médecin suisse qui pratique couramment l’euthanasie et voit débarquer chez lui quelques clients : parmi eux, un anglais qu’on comprend sans comprendre, comme s’il se cachait derrière un rideau de mots, qui est physiquement malade, et Alice qui, elle, souffre mentalement d’être au monde – qui d’une certaine manière est bipolaire – et va demander une assistance au suicide.
Ce spectacle pose-t-il la question de la légitimité de l’euthanasie ?
Y.L : Ce n’est pas son objectif même si Bärfuss l’a écrit en constatant que la Suisse, qui autorise l’euthanasie, risquait de devenir un mouroir de l’Europe. En fait, le cas d’Alice devient vite délirant et le spectacle, qui commence avec un exposé clinique du problème, rentre ensuite dans une véritable fiction théâtrale. Le thème devient une porte ouverte vers l’humour et la cocasserie.
C’est ce qui vous a séduit ?
Y.L : J’aime dans ce texte l’habile équilibre entre implicite et explicite, l’alternance entre des dialogues vifs et des plages plus introspectives, le suspens autour du devenir d’Alice et cette arrivée progressive du sentiment qui fait que ce qui paraissait simple redevient compliqué.
