On connaît bien Leif Ove Andsnes, aujourd’hui âgé de 39 ans, pour ses apparitions sur les scènes les plus prestigieuses et devant des orchestres majeurs du circuit international. On peut aussi se souvenir de quelques-uns de ses disques, dont le deuxième concerto de Bartok (avec Boulez) ou encore ses Grieg et Rachmaninov. Le nouveau projet de cet artiste bouillonnant est consacré aux géniaux (et finalement peu joués) Tableaux d’une exposition de Moussorgski qui opèrent un étonnant retour à l’image grâce à une création du vidéaste et plasticien sud-africain Robin Rhode. L’œuvre fut, on le sait, inspirée à Moussorgski au sortir d’une exposition. Presque un siècle et demi plus tard, le processus inverse a été mis en œuvre et la musique a donné naissance à des images signées par un jeune artiste contemporain. Le projet est actuellement en tournée mondiale après sa création le 13 novembre dernier au Lincoln Center de New York. Il fait escale à Paris et parallèlement fait l’objet d’une édition chez EMI en CD et dans un luxueux livre-disque de 150 pages comprenant le CD, un DVD, et des photos du projet.
