BAROQUE, LYRIQUE / BASILIQUE
En résidence artistique au Festival de Saint-Denis pour la saison 2021-2022, Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas et l’ensemble Les Surprises, qu’il a fondé en 2010 avec Juliette Guignard, s’attachent à exhumer les trésors oubliés du baroque français. Le programme présenté à la Basilique autour de la figure tutélaire de Lully en témoigne. En regard d’extraits des ballets et tragédies lyriques du compositeur officiel de la cour de Louis XIV, on redécouvrira la musique de son principal collaborateur, Pascal Collasse, au travers de pages tirées d’Achille et Polyxène, opus que Lully a laissé inachevé à sa mort et que Collasse a complété, et de Thétis et Pélée, son chef-d’œuvre. Tragédienne raffinée et à la diction impeccable, Véronique Gens interprétera des airs de Circée et La Diane de Fontainebleau de Desmarest, autre compositeur que Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas a contribué à remettre en lumière, et se glissera également dans les tourments de Médée, l’héroïne de l’opéra éponyme de Charpentier, une des œuvres majeures de la musique française.
