1939, près de Valence, dans la maison d’un commissaire de police, franquiste. Il est 17h. La guerre civile taillade le peuple espagnol et brûle les derniers fagots de liberté au loin. Au salon, tandis que le commissaire travaille à l’utopie d’une langue universelle qui accorderait les hommes, se croisent un brigadier, un propriétaire terrien, un prêtre, une jeune fille maladive, un écrivain, une épouse, une seconde, un républicain anglais, un traducteur russe, une domestique française… soit une quinzaine de personnages. Dans la pénombre des dialogues, on devine des complots ourdis derrière les portes, des dénonciations vengeresses, des terribles secrets. Et on se prend à nouer les fils d’une étrange intrigue où rouges et phalangistes, communistes et anarchistes, maris et femmes manigancent… Soudain il est 17h, dans la maison d’un commissaire de police, franquiste. Les mêmes, vus de la chambre. Et puis encore, les mêmes, 17h, vus depuis le jardin. Ainsi chaque acte découvre le hors-champ d’une histoire trouée, et surgissent les éléments manquants d’une fresque qui peu à peu prend corps et se révèle.
Mélange des genres
Dans L’Entêtement, l’une des sept pièces composant l’Héptalogie inspirée des Sept Péchés capitaux de Jérôme Bosch, Rafael Spregelburg brouille les pistes comme les genres. Sa manière procède par accumulation de détails, qui trament plusieurs thèmes en pointillé tout en y brodant leurres et faux indices. L’architecture dramaturgique, d’une complexité et d’une précision redoutables, enchâsse les lignes du récit, qui gardent leur secret jusqu’au dénouement. L’auteur argentin trouble tout autant les représentations, dérogeant au traitement habituel de la guerre civile espagnole, mêlant les langues et mixant codes cinématographiques, théâtre classique, voire désuet, polar, telenovela et science-fiction. Il en sort une machine à jouer rocambolesque, dont les acteurs s’emparent avec délice et virtuosité. Marcial Di Fonzo Bo et Elise Vigier, comédiens et metteurs et scène, plongent pour la quatrième fois dans l’univers baroque de Spregelburg et poussent la troupe aux lisières de la parodie, usant d’une astucieuse scénographie tournante pour mettre en œuvre la composition fractale. La pièce déconcerte d’abord puis passionne, tant sa construction résonne avec le propos et ouvre grand la question du point de vue, de la représentation de la réalité, de la fonction politique du langage, du basculement d’une ambition humaniste à une pensée totalitaire.
