Ancien élève du légendaire Artur Schnabel, le grand pianiste américain fait ses débuts avec le New York Philharmonic en 1944, comptant rapidement parmi les plus importants pianistes du circuit international. Mais à l’âge de 36 ans, une maladie provoque la paralysie de deux doigts de sa main droite. Commence alors pour lui une nouvelle et triple carrière de chef-d’orchestre, de pianiste explorant le répertoire limité (mais extraordinaire) pour la main gauche (Ravel, Prokofiev…) et de pédagogue. Nouvel et heureux événement d’un parcours exceptionnel, Fleisher a pu, au bénéfice de traitements expérimentaux, recouvrir il y a quelques années la mobilité de sa main droite et donc renouer avec un plus large répertoire. Un disque mémorable intitulé "Two Hands" et paru en 2004 témoigne de cette renaissance. C’est cet artiste au talent et au destin hors normes qui nous convie pour deux journées de concerts et master-classes au Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, entouré d’amis (les pianistes Katherine Jacobson-Fleisher, Alon Goldstein et Nicolas Bringuier) et de très jeunes musiciens parisiens…
