Ballet de l’Opéra national de Paris / Chor. Sol León et Paul Lightfoot / Hans Van Manen
Souvent comparé au peintre Piet Mondrian, Hans Van Manen (né en 1932), est un chorégraphe au style unique, qui sait conjuguer à une austérité formelle une élégance déliée et une charge érotique affirmée. Père fondateur du Nederlands Dans Theater, c’est là qu’il rencontre Sol León et Paul Lightfoot, deux de ses interprètes favoris, qu’il pousse à chorégraphier. Ces trois chorégraphes sont réunis dans une même soirée, déclinant, chacun à leur façon, cette danse contemporaine expressive qui emprunte sa rigueur au ballet classique et ses tensions dramatiques à l’expressionnisme allemand. Sol León et Paul Lightfoot entrent pour la première fois au répertoire de l’Opéra national de Paris avec deux pièces : le mystérieux Sleight of Hand, pièce incisive pour huit danseurs et quelques géants, sur la Symphonie N°2 de Phil Glass, et le très spirituel Speak for Yourself sur L’Art de la Fugue de Bach couplé au célèbre Come Out de Steve Reich. Le Ballet de l’Opéra reprend également Trois Gnossiennes d’Hans Van Manen sur la partition d’Erik Satie, sorte de synthèse de son écriture, exprimant sa fascination pour le duo qui autorise toutes sortes de figures audacieuses à la pointe du déséquilibre.
