Récemment rénové et repensé de fond en comble, le « Duc » a su, au cours de sa récente métamorphose, conforter sa dimension internationale. Le club est aujourd’hui parfaitement identifié comme un des lieux phares de la deuxième capitale du jazz mondial qu’est Paris après New York. « Un jazz club est d’abord et avant tout un creuset où la musique se réinvente chaque soir. Dans cet espace de « liberté » qu’est le Duc des Lombards aujourd’hui, les musiciens viennent y faire entendre leur musique, la partager avec un public attentif, se confronter à des rencontres inédites avec les artistes de leur choix, roder leur répertoire, parfois enregistrer « live » pour la sortie d’album ou de DVD. Nous continuons dans cette direction en travaillant le thème de la transmission, de l’échange et de la créativité » explique Jean-Michel Proust, directeur artistique du club. Pour cet anniversaire, la programmation met évidemment toutes les chances de son côté en convoquant la crème du jazz du moment, et souvent d’hier et de demain : des nouveaux premiers couteaux tels le saxophoniste Gaël Horellou (le 6) ou le pianiste Paul Lay (le 30) aux « patrons » Martial Solal (en solo du 25 au 28 : événement !) ou Bernard Lubat et sa turbulente compagnie trop rares à Paris (le 21 : événement !). Les nostalgiques Dany Doriz au vibraphone (le 10) ou Scott Hamilton (les 18 et 19) dans un hommage à Lester Young seront aussi de la fête sans oublier quelques « stars » aptes à provoquer des embouteillages sur le Boulevard Sébastopol tout proche, à l’image de la chanteuse Terez Montcalm (le 16).
