Dans l’élan du 21e siècle naissant, las de tourner sous les projecteurs des cabarets et autres cirques traditionnels, quelques artistes décident d’assembler leurs savoir-faire et leurs expériences sur scène. Ils étaient sept, devenus sept codirecteurs-fondateurs, comme les « 7 doigts de la main ». Dans la galaxie des troupes québécoises, la compagnie née en 2002 s’est nichée entre le spectaculaire et l’intime, alliant l’efficace de la prouesse au rire ébouriffé, la séduction à l’énergie juvénile. Autant qu’ingrédients qui font la saveur de La vie, créée en 2007, soit « une vision imaginaire et circassienne du purgatoire où les âmes goûtent effrontément aux plaisirs terrestres sous la direction d’un diabolique maître de cérémonie. » Jugement final devant le public… !
Folle sarabande de numéros
Après tant d’émois, Psy (2010) propose une « circothérapie pour toute la famille ». L’insomnie, l’amnésie, la paranoïa ou l’hypocondrie se soignent ici par la jonglerie, le mât chinois, la roue allemande, le trapèze ou le main à main… et beaucoup de rêves. « Psy transforme ainsi nos angoisses en performances acrobatiques insoupçonnées. » Les fantasmes comme les frayeurs les plus secrètes se glissent au creux des corps et les emportent dans une folle sarabande où le réel s’évapore dans l’imaginaire. Menés par onze artistes virtuoses, les numéros s’enchaînent à train d’enfer jusqu’à la catharsis finale.
