Scène nationale de Sénart / de Nicolas Gogol / mes Anton Kouznetsov
Ce fut l’une des dernières créations d’Anton Kouznetsov, metteur en scène russe – formé auprès de Lev Dodine et installé en France depuis 2006 – brutalement disparu, en juin dernier, à l’âge de 45 ans. Une création qui propose une version pour trois interprètes (Hervé Briaux, Véra Ermakova, Laurent Manzoni) du célèbre roman de Nicolas Gogol. Les Ames mortes nous plonge dans la Russie provinciale du XIXème siècle. Un escroc, Tchitchikov, se fait passer pour un grand propriétaire en achetant, à bas coût, « les âmes » de serfs décédés, mais encore considérés comme vivants par l’administration russe. Frénésie joyeuse, grincements de dents, rires francs : ce portrait « drôle et sans pitié de la trivialité de la vie et de la mesquinerie humaine » nous place face aux dérives d’une société déliquescente. Et nous interroge sur les correspondances contemporaines d’une avidité et d’un cynisme ancrés dans la nature humaine.
