Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers / De Manuel Piolat Soleymat et Razerka Ben Sadia-Lavant / librement inspiré de Othello, le Maure de Venise de Shakespeare / conception et mes Razerka Ben Sadia-Lavant
A travers ce projet de réécriture de la pièce shakespearienne, réalisé par Razerka Ben Sadia-Lavant et notre talentueux confrère Manuel Piolat Soleymat, la metteure en scène souhaite explorer des questions essentielles : celle de l’amour, celles de l’étranger, de l’autre, de la différence. L’histoire tragique du Maure de Venise, stratège militaire aguerri et respecté, époux devenu la proie de la jalousie, expose de façon flagrante et émouvante la vulnérabilité des êtres et met en lumière « le processus néfaste et délétère qui peut nous faire tomber de la culture à la barbarie ». Ce processus ébranlant les individus comme les sociétés prend ici le visage de la manipulation à travers Iago, interprété par Denis Lavant. Comme dans sa mise en scène de Timon d’Athènes, une réussite qui associait le slam des rappeurs au verbe élisabéthain, cette création mêle les disciplines artistiques – théâtre, danse, chant et musique par Mehdi Haddab et Sapho -, et le rôle d’Othello est confié au rappeur Disiz. C’est un théâtre en adresse directe au public, un théâtre de sincérité et de spontanéité, un théâtre du débordement où les mots claquent, où les êtres encaissent, vacillent et succombent, emportés par la déraison. Chaque être a ses fêlures…
