Dans l’atmosphère de ce lieu méconnu, bucolique et haut perché des Arènes de Montmartre, la programmation de la quatrième édition des « Arènes du Jazz » dessine à sa façon un beau portrait du jazz d’aujourd’hui. Une panoplie de sensibilités, parcours et générations très différents valorisant des musiciens flirtant tous avec les sonorités multiples de notre époque. Le pianiste Joachim Kühn poursuit son dialogue sans frontières avec le marocain Majid Bekkas (chant, oud, percussions) et le batteur espagnol Ramon Lopez (le 20) ; le trompettiste Eric Le Lann rassemble un nouveau quintet « all stars » accueillant en particulier Pierrick Pedron au sax alto et Laurent de Wilde au piano (le 21) ; les remuants et inclassables Airelle Besson (trompette, bugle, violon) et Sylvain Rifflet (saxophones, flûtes et clarinettes) s’agitent dans leur Rocking Chair (le 22) ; le batteur Manu Katché replonge dans le jazz pur et dur de ses deux récents albums en quintet chez ECM (le 23) ; dans « Poètes vos papiers », le contrebassiste Yves Rousseau rend hommage à Léo Ferré avec les voix de Claudia Solal et Jeanne Added (le 24) ; enfin, le Trio Sud composé de Sylvain Luc (guitare), Jean-Marc Jafet (basse) et André Ceccarelli (batterie) laisse irradier le groove tendre de son jazz gorgé de parfums et soleil méditerranéens (le 25).
