Etonnant à quel point s’imbriquent dans cette pièce cocasserie et noirceur. A quel point son ancrage faussement réaliste, son langage qui dérive vers l’absurde et son alliage entre superficialité convenue et surgissement d’une violence brute laissent émerger un théâtre stimulant. Rarement montée, ce texte de Boris Vian datant de 1957 met en scène une famille effrayée par un bruit lancinant. A chaque fois qu’ils l’entendent, ils se précipitent dans l’appartement du dessus et abandonnent un peu plus d’objets, de souvenirs et de confort. Prisonniers de leur peur, ils déchaînent fréquemment leur violence sur le “Schmürz“, créature silencieuse, avec une cruauté inouïe. Ce qui est à l’œuvre, c’est la banalité du pire, la déresponsabilisation, le conformisme qui incite à « se faire une raison » dans les pires situations, sans aucun égard pour le réel et la souffrance. Le rétrécissement de l’espace révèle celui d’une pensée faible et dénote une solidarité impossible. Vincent Ecrepont orchestre le jeu théâtral de ce périple existentiel avec minutie, efficacité et un juste équilibre.
