La Scène Watteau / d’Eugène Ionesco / mes Bernard Levy
Menant une existence isolée, un couple de nonagénaires reçoit chez lui des invités imaginaires venus écouter un message universel à destination de l’humanité. Un à un, les sièges devant accueillir l’auditoire invisible sont déployés. Ils remplissent jusqu’au trop-plein le salon des vieillards, qui se retrouvent l’un et l’autre confinés aux deux extrémités de la pièce… Souhaitant réinterroger l’œuvre d’Eugène Ionesco en l’ancrant dans le réel, Bernard Levy a cherché à prendre des distances avec les codes traditionnels du théâtre de l’absurde. « Le couple formé par Thierry [Bosc] et Emmanuelle [Grangé] me semblait pouvoir (…) mêler le réel au poétique, le vrai à l’imaginaire, le vécu au jeu », déclare le metteur en scène. Allant au-delà de la seule métaphysique, cette création envisage Les Chaises par le prisme du quotidien de la vieillesse. Mémoire défaillante, grande solitude, désarroi face à une mort imminente : et si ces personnages s’amusaient tout simplement à vivre avec intensité leurs derniers instants…
