Alors que Radio-France lui consacre trois concerts exceptionnels au mois de janvier, Richard Galliano rend lui aussi hommage à Michel Legrand dans un nouvel enregistrement avec quintette à cordes qui sort chez Jade. « L’accordéoniste gravit l’œuvre de Michel Legrand en premier de cordée, traçant un sentier étroit où il n’y a guère de place que pour quelques alpinistes aux gestes mesurés, économes, exacts » commente, admiratif, François Lacharme, le programmateur « jazz » de la Seine Musicale. La salle de l’Île Seguin accueille justement Richard Galliano pour un autre projet : la première mondiale de son oratorio Les Chemins Noirs. Inspiré par le roman éponyme de René Frégni, paru en 1992, l’œuvre relate la cavale picaresque à travers le monde d’un jeune homme ayant un jour commis, sans le vouloir, un acte irréparable… Galliano a conçu sur cette histoire un road-movie musical et choral entouré de René Frégni en personne comme récitant, mais aussi du Chœur Musiques en Jeux (direction Alain Joutard) et de Bruno Rousselet à la contrebasse.
