Une « troupe de chiens enragés, de tueurs, de condamnés » menée par un
Breton bouillonnant, amateur de rixes et de coups bas, « un simple petit
homme brisé, le c’ur anéanti depuis son premier souffle » : en 1364, à
Cocherel, aux portes de Paris, le royaume de France dut son salut à des moins
que rien guidés par Bertrand Du Guesclin, et l’idée de nation naquit dans la
brutalité, le sang et la boue. Mêlant les mots des « poètes de la langue et
du combat ? D’Aubigné, Desnos, Cendrars, Péguy », Godefroy Ségal a imaginé
un spectacle chantant l’horreur et sa fascination et la force démiurgique de la
violence. Seize comédiens construisent avec leurs voix et leurs corps une
« basilique » pour tous ceux dont le sacrifice ne fut pas vain en un
spectacle fiévreux et lyrique où le souffle de l’enfer, de l’immonde et du
détestable emporte l’enthousiasme sous la foi sublime des bannières.
