Le chef d’orchestre Cyril Diederich, enfant du pays, donne naissance à ce nouveau festival perché sur les hauteurs du village d’Oppède-le-Vieux, l’un des plus beaux du Lubéron. La suite d’une longue histoire puisque l’ex-directeur musical de l’Orchestre de Montpellier fut aussi à l’origine des Semaines Musicales du Lubéron, dans la même région, de 1970 à 1984, avec pour parrain le grand Christian Ferras… Chacune des trois soirées de la nouvelle manifestation se déroulera sur le même modèle : une première partie jouée à l’intérieur de la ravissante collégiale Notre-Dame Dalidon, puis une seconde à la tombée de la nuit sur le parvis de la petite église avec pour décor le ciel et un panorama majestueux ouvrant sur la vallée et le Mont Ventoux. Les trois programmes défendus par un orchestre d’amis du maestro (issus des meilleurs orchestres français, dont le violon-solo Christophe Guiot) seront voués au grand répertoire lyrique (de Mozart à Massenet, de Haendel à Puccini) en mettant en valeur deux jeunes voix françaises : la soprano Fabienne Conrad et le ténor Bruno Robba.
