Ils disent que c’est l’humour qui les a rapprochés, après leur rencontre alors qu’ils étaient danseurs au sein de la compagnie La BaZooka. Leur première pièce est une vraie réussite, logiquement traversée par l’humour. Quand la danse contemporaine s’attaque à la Reine Margot, cela donne chez Claire Laureau et Nicolas Chaignau une incursion vers le cinéma et la théâtralité qui met en scène les deux corps dans une situation portant à l’absurde. Cela débute par un dialogue, issu d’un téléfilm mettant en scène Henry de Navarre et la future reine, interprété en play back. La chose devient vite incongrue grâce à l’idée de la variation qui devient le principe même de composition de la pièce. Les voilà qui rejouent la scène, la décalent, la détournent, s’amusent du texte, déconstruisent la narration. Le tout est porté par une bande sonore savamment construite et une précision gestuelle exigeante, qui permet à l’humour de se glisser dans tous les interstices possibles.
