Et si la représentation n’avait pas lieu ? Et si dans cette brèche que provoque l’attente du « vrai » spectacle à venir ne s’était engouffrée qu’une mise en route de travaux préparatoires, les préalables à toute représentation scénique ? Des prémisses à toute mise en scène concrète et matérielle – un moyen et non une fin. Or, comme dans les précédentes créations de Pierre Meunier (Le Tas, Au milieu du monde…), la dimension technique qui oblige aux objets et manipulations insolites est au rendez-vous anti-spectaculaire et anti-héroïque des Égarés. Sous les yeux du public égaré lui aussi, une construction s’élabore sur le plateau avec force échafaudages, barres et poutrelles de fer, cordes forcées et hissées, carton-pâte à la dérive, dans la surprise sonore de machines à bruits et à vents. C’est une philosophie de l’art du matériau et des outils, une pensée de la récupération qui participe d’un engagement implicitement revendiqué concernant l’environnement et le salut de la planète. Un militantisme instinctif qui s’associe simultanément à un sauvetage sanitaire des esprits dans leur résistance désespérée à la manipulation : la preuve sociale, il en est qui vont au théâtre encore.
Un chœur d’artisans et de compagnons – de faux techniciens
Parler des Égarés, mais qui sont-ils ?Les patients avec lesquels Pierre Meunier a travaillé à l’hôpital psychiatrique d’Ainay-le-Château dans l’Allier, et à partir desquels il a conçu le spectacle dont l’élaboration et la fabrication ont été collectives avec ses partenaires artistiques, ses comédiens de chantier, Jean-Louis Coulloc’h, Frédéric Kunze, Suzanne Da Cruz, François Tizon, Isabelle Vedie ? Il s’agit bien d’un chœur d’artisans et de compagnons – de faux techniciens de plateau – qui s’entraident dans l’élévation ou la stabilisation d’une structure destinée au décor. De son côté, Jean-Louis Coulloch, le palefrenier de Lady Chatterley dont la musculature dénudée a fait le bonheur des écrans, resurgit dévêtu encore, comme l’un de ces laissés-pour-compte dont le désir intime est de se confronter avec l’élément – une souche de bois brut levée par un treuil, une massue d’Obélix – avec lequel il va se mesurer et peser l’enjeu de son existence et de sa respiration. Ces sentiers de traverse sont le privilège d’un fourvoiement qui n’est qu’apparent ; on erre dans les lointains imaginaires afin de mieux revenir au monde. Une désorientation obligée, un détournement consenti pour ne plus jamais faire fausse route hors de soi et des autres, loin des désarrois et des désordres universels.
