Depuis 2005, les Etés de la danse organisent, chaque été, la venue à Paris d’une grande compagnie de danse. Cette année, ce sont même deux compagnies qui sont invitées, et non des moindres. En juillet, le Miami City Ballet investira le Théâtre du Châtelet pour quatorze représentations. Et en septembre, au Théâtre national de Chaillot, c’est l’un des plus grands danseurs du XXe siècle qui se produira : Mikhaïl Baryshnikov. Le Miami City Ballet, fondé en 1986, est l’une des grandes compagnies américaines. Chacune des dix-sept représentations de cette première parisienne propose un programme différent, dans lequel on trouve, à chaque fois, une ou deux pièces de George Balanchine : l’occasion de redécouvrir la subtilité de l’écriture du grand chorégraphe russe qui, émigré en Amérique, y créa un style singulier, à la fois virtuose et épuré.
Deux émigrants russes à Paris
On pourra admirer ses plus grandes œuvres (Western Symphony, Les quatre tempéraments…) ainsi que des pièces moins connues et rarement dansées (La Valse, Square Dance…). La compagnie présente également des pièces de Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon. A la fin de l’été, un autre type de spectacle sera à l’honneur avec Mikhaïl Baryshnikov – qui fut aussi un grand interprète de Balanchine. Aujourd’hui âgé de 63 ans, il continue d’envoûter les foules, en tant que danseur, comédien et chorégraphe. Pour la première fois en France, il présentera In Paris : cette pièce alliant théâtre, danse, musique et vidéo, inspirée d’une nouvelle de l’écrivain russe Ivan Bunin (1870-1953), relate l’histoire d’amour de deux émigrants russes à Paris, en 1930. Dmitry Krymov met en scène cette rencontre entre deux interprètes d’exception : Baryshnikov et la jeune comédienne Anna Sinyakina, actrice phare du Dmitry Krymov Laboratory.
