Sociétaire de la Comédie-Française, acteur aussi au cinéma, passionné de théâtre No et de ballet classique, Guillaume Gallienne s’adresse ici au public sur le mode de la “stand up comedy“, seul en scène, narrateur de sa propre histoire et interprète de plusieurs personnages. A juste titre, il ne doute pas de la théâtralité de sa biographie, et, encouragé par le regard éclairant de sa marraine de théâtre Claude Mathieu, sociétaire comme lui de la prestigieuse maison, qui lui a appris à lire “l’intérieur d’un texte“ et l’a aussi mis en scène dans un monologue de Dario Fo, Saint-François le divin jongleur, il s’est mis à écrire tout ce que sa mémoire avait, au fil des ans, « gardé et raconté, amplifié ou déformé ». Le spectacle dissipe ainsi quelques malentendus avec un humour mordant et une autodérision pointilleuse et volubile. A savoir principalement son homosexualité supposée, reconnue par sa mère lorsqu’elle appelle sa progéniture : « Les garçons et Guillaume, à table ! » En petit garçon docile, admiratif de sa mère et heureux de se voir ainsi distingué, il se conforme à l’étiquette, cultivant une voix haut perchée et des manières efféminées. Jusqu’à finalement découvrir que cette identité ne lui correspond pas. Sans aucune intention de se lamenter ou de régler des comptes avec qui que ce soit, la pièce décrit avant tout la quête de soi d’un jeune homme naïf et conciliant, une quête drôle, baroque et fantasque, qui ose affronter la vie avec acuité, tendresse et intelligence.
