Le narrateur rencontre dans un bus un jeune homme au long cou en bisbille avec un autre voyageur. Un peu plus tard, il le retrouve gare Saint-Lazare, en train de discuter avec un ami. L’argument est mince et il faut tout le génie créatif de Queneau pour que la forme suppléant au fond, on s’attache à ces exercices de style jubilatoires et virtuoses. Les Grandes Gueules ont choisi d’adapter en musique vingt-quatre versions de cette histoire dans des styles musicaux variés : « une version jazz, une version rock, une version Star Ac’, une version Robot façon Kraftwerk, un hymne partisan, un opéra miniature, un chœur religieux, une danse folklorique, une berceuse, une chanson d’école, une fête africaine, etc. ». Arrangements vocaux impeccables pour un projet farfelu et baroque, interprètes de haut vol, aussi à l’aise dans le chant que dans le jeu, autant d’esprit que d’aisance, autant d’humour que de légèreté, de maîtrise que de délire : les Grandes Gueules, quatuor a capella à la technique époustouflante et à la palette allègrement colorée, font merveille dans leur flirt avec l’Oulipo.
