Depuis sa naissance en 2003, la fédération d’orchestres « Grands Formats » travaille avec un enthousiasme contagieux à favoriser le développement des formations XXL du jazz et des musiques improvisées. Grâce à eux, le public français et européen tombe sous le charme d’ensembles jubilatoires aux univers on ne peut plus éclectiques : du Sacre du Tympan de Fred Pallem au Caratini Jazz Ensemble en passant par le Pandémonium de François Jeanneau ou le Gros Cube d’Alban Darche. Et c’est devenu une tradition captivante perpétuée tous les ans, Grands Formats fait « sa rentrée » lors d’une soirée de gala, baptisée cette fois-ci « Présences d’esprits ».
Démonstration de forces
Pour cette saison 2010-2011, l’association profite d’une commande exceptionnelle de Radio France à Andy Emler pour célébrer un mariage alléchant entre deux des (méga) octettes les plus audacieux et séduisants du moment, deux orchestres qui transcendent les frontières entre les genres musicaux : Archiemusic mené par le saxophoniste-flûtiste Jean-Rémy Guédon et le maintenant célèbre MegaOctet d’Andy Emler. Une soirée en trois temps qui s’annonce comme l’un des événements de cette rentrée : le MegaOctet interprétera un « best of » de son dernier disque « Crouch, Touch, Engage », Archiemusic célébrera le Marquis de Sade en compagnie de la formidable Elise Caron (consacrée meilleure chanteuse aux Victoires du Jazz), et enfin une création inédite composée par Andy Emler sera jouée par les deux grands orchestres. Une soirée qui s’annonce riche en surprises et en émotions.
