Théâtre Jean-Arp / d’après Victor Hugo / conception Karine Birgé et Marie Delhaye
Leur démarche : « proposer des mythes de la littérature sur un petit plateau de théâtre ». Après Carmen et Madame Bovary, les membres de la Compagnie Karyatides (Karine Birgé et Marie Delhaye pour la conception et l’interprétation, Agnès Limbos pour la mise en scène) s’emparent aujourd’hui des Misérables. « Nous passons à la centrifugeuse les grandes œuvres pour en extraire des digests par une opération de stylisation vivifiante et novatrice, déclarent les artistes originaires de Belgique. Avec nos objets, nous voulons laisser la place à l’imaginaire, à l’évocation, à la métaphore, à ce qui reste d’âmes d’enfants en chaque spectateur. » Centrant leur adaptation théâtrale du roman de Victor Hugo sur les personnages de Jean Valjean, Javert, Fantine, Cosette et Gavroche, Karine Birgé et Marie Delhaye se sont attachées à suivre une triple orientation : l’intrigue policière, le mélodrame, l’engagement politique. Une triple orientation qui cherche à défendre l’idée d’un « théâtre populaire, visuel et poétique ».
