La pièce Les nuages retournent à la maison parle de la rencontre entre une prostituée albanaise, qui vit recluse dans une chambre d’hôtel, et Cristina, une jeune femme qui travaille dans cet hôtel comme femme de chambre. Derrière l’histoire privée qui se raconte entre elles, la pièce fait sourdre une dimension politique forte. Laura Forti attaque de front la question de l’immigration clandestine, sujet brûlant qui encense l’actualité politique en Italie comme en France. Ces femmes de la communauté albanaise ont cru à un Occident opulent, libre et respectueux des droits de l’homme, et « passée la frontière, leurs rêves se sont brutalement heurtés à une réalité économique, mafieuse et sexiste, rêves qu’elles ont payés au prix de leur corps : lutte contre les filières clandestines, guerre aux passeurs, recrudescence des reconduites à la frontière, débat sur le délit de solidarité ». Selon Justine Heynemann, la pièce fait entendre ce dont l’homme est capable face à la misère humaine, qu’il en soit victime ou qu’il l’exploite, et combien l’Occident peut être démuni ou lâche face à la mauvaise conscience qui le ronge. Un spectacle grave et engagé à la teneur profondément humaine qui tente de dépasser les solitudes isolées à travers l’obstination des rencontres, toujours fructueuses et constructives. La parole de la vie et de ses douleurs mêlées, ici et maintenant, à partager avec le public.
