Le Papotin est un journal rédigé et édité, depuis vingt ans, par des jeunes gens qui, récusant la notion d’autisme ou de ghetto créatif de personnes handicapés, se disent simplement « atypiques ». Loin de l’idée d’un spectacle sur le handicap, Eric Petitjean a adapté à la scène certains des textes du Papotin comme une matière à dire dont s’emparent quatre personnages fictifs (interprétés par Silvia Cordonnier, Philippe Frécon, Christian Mazzuchini et Philippe Richard). « Ce qui est frappant chez ces « atypiques », déclare le metteur en scène, c’est leur rapport au langage et à leur propre personne : leur parole, brute, sincère, n’admet pas les faux-semblants ni les idées reçues. Ils débattent de sujets qui nous concernent tous : politique, amour, vie de tous les jours. » Sans établir de trame narrative, ce labyrinthe de sens cherche à mettre à mal le pacte de la bienséance, à nous amener à dépasser certaines de nos barrières habituelles.
