Du berceau au cercueil, tout est cérémonie. La société, comme le remarquait Blaise Pascal, est en paix grâce au respect de ces grandeurs d’établissement, masque indispensable de l’estime comme du mépris pour la nature humaine. « Les règles du savoir-vivre de notre société sont-elles un canevas ou plutôt un carcan ? » : telle est la question que formule le metteur en scène Noam Cadestin à partir du texte de Jean-Luc Lagarce, dont il confie l’interprétation à la comédienne Laetitia Mazzoleni. On sent dans ce monologue, remarque Noam Cadestin, « le décalage entre la réalité des convenances et l’absurdité qu’elles peuvent engendrer dans notre société actuelle », et la comédienne prend en charge ce hiatus avec causticité et intelligence. L’humour est noir, le verbe est allègre et, comme toujours chez Lagarce, économe et efficace. A notre époque où d’aucuns regrettent les politesses défuntes, il est aussi éclairant que jubilatoire d’aller débusquer la possible grimace sous le masque et la vérité sous les apparences…
