Complices de longue date (leur première collaboration eut lieu à la Comédie-Française, en 2008), Catherine Hiegel et Marcial Di Fonzo Bo donnent aujourd’hui corps à la cocasserie singulière des Règles du savoir-vivre dans la société moderne de Jean-Luc Lagarce (texte inspiré d’un précis de bonnes manières écrit à la fin du XIXème siècle). Au sein d’une scénographie dépouillée à l’extrême, la comédienne investit le regard espiègle et frondeur que l’auteur mort du sida en 1995 porte sur la société de son temps. « Un regard tendre et drôle, jamais cynique », explique le metteur en scène, « auquel la comédienne libre et engagée qu’est Catherine Hiegel apporte une forme de décalage ». Charge jubilatoire contre le ridicule des conformismes sociaux, Les Règles du savoir-vivre dans la société moderne tourne en dérision, avec souffle et vivacité, les faux-semblants de la comédie humaine.
