C’est la canadienne Chanti Wadge qui est à l’honneur cette année dans ces Rencontres, bénéficiant d’une grande visibilité mais aussi d’une résidence de création sur le long terme (voir notre entretien). « Repérée » en France à Lille, et diffusée l’an dernier lors de la sixième édition d’Essonne Danse, la chorégraphe a su montrer sa singularité à travers son sens de la performance, de l’introspection et de l’image. Elle partage ici la programmation avec des compagnies françaises et étrangères. Certaines, comme Nacera Belaza, ne sont plus à découvrir mais restent néanmoins indispensables à suivre. Avec Le Cri, la chorégraphe d’origine algérienne a pris le risque d’un vocabulaire gestuel minimal qu’elle exploite jusqu’à la limite de la transe. Cette pièce est un envoûtement, né d’une parole sourde qui tente de s’échapper, dont on attend l’implosion à chaque minute. Un Cri davantage intérieur mais qui, tout au long de sa montée en puissance et relayé par des ambiances musicales et sonores très fortes, montre l’engagement de deux femmes dans une danse qui n’a rien d’anodin.
Une fête de la danse en clôture
Beaucoup plus lyrique et bavarde, la danse de Frédéric Cellé explore la notion de solitude (D’être en solitude) tout comme les relations complexes entre les êtres (The Last). Alexandre Castres a quant à lui choisi le médium du corps, du texte, et de la vidéo pour endosser le rôle de Monsieur Zero, Famous when dead, pour interroger la mort avec ironie et humour. Après la découverte de pièces venues du Luxembourg, d’Allemagne, du Congo ou de Tunisie, c’est le collectif Delgado-Fuchs qui fermera cette septième édition des Rencontres Essonne Danse, au terme d’un parcours au long cours mêlant leur dernière création à d’autres petites formes chorégraphiques (solos, duos..), pour finir avec leur propre bal « moderne ».
