Le comique dénonce ici la solitude et la précarité dans une société atomisée, où rencontrer l’autre est une chose très compliquée. « Au commencement était Simon et Simon était sans emploi ». Il est prêt à tout pour s’intégrer, même à exposer sa vie au public ! Sa vie qu’il passe à s’efforcer de trouver un travail dans une société caractérisée par une terrible violence économique et un vide relationnel sidérant. Déployant des trésors d’imagination, il propose pourtant des services variés : cascadeur émotif, spectateur personnel, finisseur de phrases, flatteur d’egos, allégeur de conscience, remplisseur de vide. Des tentatives qui visent autant à intégrer le monde du travail qu’à trouver un sens à sa vie. Simon (Cédric Revollon) est flanqué de deux acolytes.
Une intense révolte
Léo (Hervé Laudière) a reçu une brique à l’endroit du cortex où se forment les mots positifs, et ne peut plus les dire, il écrit donc des poèmes sombres et rageurs. Nathalie (Léonore Chaix, très drôle) est focalisée sur ses organes et son développement personnel. Sous les tentatives laborieuses et incongrues de Simon une angoisse immense et parfois une intense révolte s’expriment. Le théâtre habille la scène pour mieux dénuder les âmes et dénoncer la violence du monde. La canadienne Carole Fréchette a écrit cette pièce en période de crise économique, alors qu’elle avait décidé de quitter son travail pour devenir écrivain : une décision difficile, qui s’est avérée une réussite (le texte a été joué dans plus de dix pays !). En partage avec le public, sur une musique de Sanseverino, la mise en scène de Claude Viala éclaire subtilement ce paradoxe, ce fragile équilibre qui exploite le comique des situations tout en laissant voir le tragique de l’existence.
