1977. Le bureau du service après-vente de la Maison Cosson, qui fabrique des moulins à café très reputés, est un lieu de travail, et un lieu de vie, où les relations ont été façonnées par le temps et les habitudes. Quatre des cinq protagonistes du service travaillent ensemble depuis longtemps. Nicole et Anne répondent aux réclamations des clients, Guillermo répare, Jaudouard supervise. L’arrivée d’Yvette, piquante brunette de vingt ans, perturbe l’équilibre. Nous ne sommes qu’au début de la révolution générée par l’ordinateur, tandis que s’ouvre aussi l’ère de l’appétit des grands groupes rachetant les petits. Ce qui frappe dans ce texte, outre sa redoutable actualité, c’est l’enchevêtrement constant de l’intime et du professionnel, l’entrelacs des répliques qui fusent et se frottent, l’expression si spontanée des désirs, des inquiétudes et des soucis des uns et des autres, les collisions drolatiques entre le langage et le réel.
Changement de modèle
La mise en scène vivement rythmée et impeccablement interprétée parvient à faire écho de façon alerte, cohérente et burlesque à cet entrechoquement de la vie privée et de la vie au travail. La pièce montre un changement radical de modèle économique, avec des hommes et des femmes devenant inadaptés aux nouvelles normes. La partition théâtrale, mêlant si judicieusement l’affectif et l’économique, est aussi vivifiée par la bande sonore de Stefano Genovese. Ce que rappellent Michel Vinaver (alors PDG de Gillette France) et Valérie Grail, de façon drôle et cinglante à la fois, c’est que le travail, ce n’est pas seulement faire, c’est aussi être, être dans son entreprise, avec ses collègues et sa hiérarchie. Est-ce une valeur enterrée ? Sans doute non !
