L’Etoile d’Alger est avant tout un roman écrit en 2004 par Aziz Chouaki. Le chorégraphe Farid Ounchiouène s’en empare avec force et fidélité, incarnant lui-même le personnage de Moussa, sa passion, ses rêves, ses désillusions. Perdu dans l’Algérie des années 90, le jeune homme vit dans l’espoir d’une gloire prochaine, raccroché à l’idée de devenir la future star de la chanson internationale. De déboires en déconvenues, le drame se noue au fil des rencontres. Le chorégraphe joue avec justesse l’emportement du jeune homme, celui-là même qui le conduira à sa perte. Créée dans la petite salle de Chaillot au printemps dernier, le spectacle n’avait pas pu prendre toute son ampleur, laissant à la danseuse un rôle de seconde zone dans une chorégraphie très en deçà de la promesse du jeu théâtral. Gageons qu’à Bezons où elle est reprise cette automne, la pièce pourra redonner vie à Moussa avant le drame final conduit par ses chimères.
