En conviant Alain Bashung à se glisser dans la voix de L’Homme à tête de chou, Jean-Claude Gallotta se lançait dans un projet très ambitieux, mais qui finalement collait à l’évidence à chacun des protagonistes. Un projet rescapé, qui malgré la disparition du chanteur a vu le jour grâce aux enregistrements effectués avant que la maladie ne le frappe. Le chorégraphe, qui déjà flirtait avec la musique ou la chanson dans de précédentes pièces, se confronte à la narration issue directement de l’album de Gainsbourg : douze chansons qui relataient, en trente-cinq minutes, l’histoire d’amour tragique entre Marilou et l’homme à tête de chou. Sans maniérisme, Gallotta reprend la trame avec douze tableaux, dans lesquels se glissent les danseurs. A chacun de jouer avec la circulation de gestes et des présences, qui dans l’ombre de Marilou, qui dans l’ombre, plus pesante, des deux chanteurs dont on ne cesse désormais de souligner les affinités.
