Villeneuve en Scène / d’après l’œuvre de Victor Hugo / création collective cie Babylone avec Denis Llorca
Si cette compagnie d’arts de la rue s’empare pour la première fois d’un texte classique, c’est que Victor Hugo fait entendre comme personne les colères et les malheurs du peuple. « L’homme est un mutilé. Ce qu’on m’a fait, on l’a fait au genre humain. On lui a déformé le droit, la justice, la vérité, la raison, l’intelligence, comme à moi les yeux, les narines et les oreilles. » Enfant mutilé et abandonné, Gwynplaine devient saltimbanque et traverse une épopée fabuleuse et poignante, se découvrant même Lord et affrontant les rires de ses pairs. Denis Llorca a adapté le roman, et le travail au plateau de la compagnie Babylone vise à rendre cet extraordinaire parcours « contemporain et intemporel à la fois », à créer un objet théâtral qui interroge le rapport au pouvoir, le thème de la monstruosité, et les injustices criantes de nos sociétés. Un théâtre politique et collectif qui place le public au centre de ses créations.
