Cinq danseurs nus ondulent, dos à nous, se parent de tissus et déambulent, juchés sur des talons. La chorégraphe ivoirienne Nadia Baugré s’attelle depuis une dizaine d’années à perturber la norme en interrogeant le corps. Et avec L’homme rare elle se penche sur le genre, en faisait jaillir la féminité de ses interprètes. En explorant plusieurs gestes et danses – qui émanent de sa recherche sur les danses urbaines, notamment brésiliennes – que l’on attribue communément aux femmes, elle déjoue les stéréotypes qui façonnent le regard. L’occasion de s’attaquer à une vision patriarcale qui exigerait une représentation virile du corps des hommes, mais aussi colonial en nous confrontant à une représentation objectifiante des corps noirs. En jouant sur les ambiguïtés des codes du genre, Nadia Baugré dessine les contours de cet « homme invisible », qui échappe aux catégories, un inconnu à peine perceptible, qui pourrait être son propre reflet.
