Théâtre du Girasole / d’après L’Indigent Philosophe de Marivaux / mes Didier Brice
Au texte de Marivaux, Didier Brice ajoute des chansons de l’époque et quelques extraits d’auteurs plus anciens. Pétri « de brillantes considérations sur la condition de l’homme et sur la quête du bonheur », le roman d’origine « livre également au spectateur contemporain des clefs pour penser son rapport à la nature, sa place dans la société ». Pour renforcer l’illusion, Didier Brice met les spectateurs à contribution pour l’aider à construire un de ces théâtres ambulants qui, au XVIIIème siècle, allaient de village en village. Une épinette des Vosges et un costume d’époque permettent de parfaire l’impression de remontée dans le temps.
Son art est plus fort que tout
On est donc au milieu des villageois qui regardent l’acteur arriver en chantant pour leur donner la comédie. « Il fanfaronne, fier de sa joyeuse philosophie. Il boit à la santé des gueux et des puissants, il boit pour oublier sa belle. Mais ce soir, elle est là. Alors, il va jouer pour la reconquérir. Il est en haillons ? Qu’importe ? Il sera sublime. Son art est plus fort que tout. » Et lorsque s’ouvre enfin le rideau, la représentation se renverse, offrant le plaisir renouvelé de la duperie théâtrale, cette folie aimable parce que raisonnable, joyeuse et divertissante.
