PHILHARMONIE / VOIX ET PIANO
Si Brahms n’a jamais composé d’opéra (« plutôt me marier que d’écrire un opéra… », aurait-il dit), la musique vocale est bien présente dans son œuvre. Il a notamment composé environ 200 lieder parmi lesquels les Liebeslieder Walzer, fruit de son amour pour Julie Schumann, la troisième fille de Robert et Clara. Ces 18 lieder traduisent en musique Polydora, un recueil de poèmes du philosophe Georg Friedrich Daumer, et puisent dans l’esprit de la valse et des musiques populaires. Leur tonalité charmante reflète l’état d’esprit du compositeur qui croyait encore pouvoir épouser la jeune fille – plus sombre sera la couleur des Neue Liebeslider, écrits après l’annonce que Julie se destinait à un autre homme. Pour interpréter ce fleuron du romantisme, le ténor Werner Güra, grand spécialiste de ce répertoire, allie sa voix à celles de Natalie Dessay, Karine Deshayes et Laurent Naouri. Un quatuor vocal de choc accompagné par deux non moins éminents pianistes : Philippe Cassard et Cédric Pescia.
