C’est une vague de poésie, d’amour et de mort qui subsiste après avoir vu Lied Ballet. L’étrangeté d’un groupe de danseurs, qu’ils se glissent dans la voix d’un ténor ou dans les notes d’un pianiste, donne au spectacle un poids, une texture d’une grande densité. Thomas Lebrun a joué la carte de la danse en embarquant ses huit interprètes d’abord dans des états de corps puissants, vers une forme d’expressionnisme, ensuite en célébrant le geste presque à l’état pur, quand prime la composition du mouvement dans l’espace et avec le groupe. Le chorégraphe s’est attaché à convoquer les fantômes du lied et du ballet, s’amusant des références, s’appuyant sur des thèmes comme sur des façons de faire, faisant de cette création un hommage à la fois à la danse et à la musique. Mais la pièce devient également un objet bien distinct de ses propres références, à l’atmosphère extrêmement riche et profondément incarnée.
