Nouveau Théâtre de Montreuil / conception et mise en scène Kelly Copper et Pavol Liska
« Life and Times se compose d’une vaste épopée de dix épisodes. Dans ce projet, la langue provient entièrement de conversations téléphoniques enregistrées dans lesquelles Pavol a demandé à notre conceptrice son Kristin Worrall une simple question : « Peux-tu me raconter ta vie ? » A la fin de la première conversation, qui a duré deux heures, Kristin est arrivée à l’âge de… huit ans. Les neuf autres conversations, d’une durée de seize heures, ont permis d’arriver à son âge du moment, 34 ans. Nous avons été épatés par la densité de cette narration, chez quelqu’un dont la vie ne recèle rien de particulièrement dramatique, et nous avons voulu à partir de ce langage inventer une oeuvre d’art totale, n’incluant pas seulement de la musique et de la danse mais aussi de la vidéo, de l’art visuel, etc. Tout est chanté dans l’épisode 1 et presque tout dans le 2, dans des chorégraphies très différentes. Les acteurs utilisent leur voix, leur corps, une multitude de stratégies. Ils sont présents à 100%. Nous leur demandons de s’engager émotionnellement, afin de faire du texte (très privé) un objet public. »
