Née en 1985, Sivan Eldar a choisi de puiser dans Les métamorphoses d’Ovide le sujet de son premier opéra. Sur un livret de Cordelia Lynn, auteure britannique avec laquelle elle avait écrit Heave en 2018, la compositrice israélienne, actuellement en résidence à l’Opéra national de Montpellier, plonge dans le monde extra-humain, grâce à l’informatique musicale : un dispositif électroacoustique, placé sous les sièges du public, traduit en sons et en vibrations la croissance et la sensibilité végétales. Confiée à Maxime Pascal et aux musiciens de son ensemble Le Balcon, la partition recherche une hybridation dépassant les clivages traditionnels, que l’on retrouvera dans le recours à l’intelligence artificielle par la metteure en scène Silvia Costa. Ce projet de renouvellement expérimental du genre lyrique a été récompensé en 2021 par un prix FEDORA.
