Gérard Gelas, directeur du Théâtre du Chêne Noir, a écrit ces « confessions tristes d’une fille de joie sur un trottoir enchanté » en 1978, et a monté la pièce l’année suivante, avant de la reprendre en 2008 à l’occasion des quarante ans du théâtre avignonnais. Lili Calamboula a toujours connu l’oppression et l’adversité, jusqu’à connaître l’enfermement dans un hôpital psychiatrique, et c’est là que sa parole se libère et exprime toutes ses douleurs. Claudine Pelletier revisite ce « texte sombre, cruel et pourtant facétieux qui dénonce l’exploitation » et expose le destin tragique d’une fille des rues, posant aussi à travers cette vie de femme qui se raconte de multiples questions que la société n’a pas réglées et ne réglera jamais sur la prostitution. A l’époque de sa première mise en scène, la pièce résonnait fortement avec le combat des prostituées contre leurs proxénètes. Aujourd’hui, la prostitution s’est démultipliée à cause du net. La comédienne de talent Valérie Bodson interprète Lili, accompagnée par un accordéoniste (Eugène Bozzetti) et un contrebassiste (Laurent Payfert).
