La programmation du Théâtre de Belleville permet notamment de découvrir le travail de jeunes compagnies très talentueuses. Après le remarquable Démons de Lars Noren mis en scène par Lorraine de Sagazan cet automne, cette nouvelle création fait entendre la voix d’Homère glorifiant les héros de la Guerre de Troie. Un collectif de six jeunes acteurs emmené par Pauline Bayle s’empare ainsi des histoires d’Achille, Hélène, Andromaque, Hector et Agamemnon, s’immergeant pour la comprendre et la questionner dans l’essence de la culture guerrière. Au-delà de la gloire et la fureur, le poème confronte brutalement l’homme à la douleur et à sa finitude. «Parce que le théâtre demande un engagement total et absolu à ceux qui le font et parce qu’il repose avant tout sur la poésie, porter L’Iliade sur un plateau devient un acte évident», confie la compagnie, qui souligne que comme le héros guerrier, l’acteur aspire à transcender sa condition de simple mortel.
