C’est dans les arcanes de la Louisiane que l’Impérial Quartet a creusé le profond sillon de son album paru en 2022 et intitulé All Indians ? L’interpellation fait sens, non sans faire écho aux tribus afro-américaines, les Black Indians au cœur du groove qui qualifie toute la musique de La Nouvelle Orléans, des parades carnavalesques aux jazz funerals. Ce titre est aussi une façon de redire l’importance de la trace laissée par les native Indians, malgré l’éradication de leurs séculaires traditions. C’est enfin reposer « la question de la créolisation des identités » qui fonde l’âme de La Louisiane, cette île caribéenne nichée au Sud des États-Unis. Les saxophonistes Damien Sabatier et Gérald Chevillon, le contrebassiste Joachim Florent et le batteur Antonin Leymarie puisent ainsi aux sources essentielles du jazz pour composer un programme qui commence par une intense Procession, se poursuit par un Zydeco Blues, avant d’en passer notamment par un drôle de Rouge Baton et un envoûtant Bayuk.
