L’intranquillité n’est pas tout à fait l’inquiétude, elle est l’errance continue et sans but d’une âme tourmentée, un état sans état, une conscience réduite à sa pure fulgurance, trouvant dans l’art de dire le monde le seul point d’appui et la seule consolation. Dans ce texte posthume, où Pessoa prend le masque de Bernardo Soares, un de ses nombreux hétéronymes, figurent des fragments lucides et désespérés, des textes décousus à la profondeur vertigineuse, des fulgurances de dérision, des aphorismes mystérieux et des pages sublimes sur Lisbonne : peut-être déjà une forme de liberté créatrice qui appelle le jazz. La batterie lyrique de Christophe Marguet se marie à la langue de Pessoa, dite par Frédéric Pierrot. Les chocs syncopés et les ruptures de ton de l’écrivain dialoguent avec ceux que fait naître l’instrument pour créer un spectacle original et fascinant, voire inquiétant, si, comme le disait Pessoa, « l’âme qui fait usage du rêve devient incurable »…
