Créée la saison dernière à bord de la Péniche Opéra, cette production d’une œuvre méconnue de Gluck – mineure, certes, mais vivifiante –, est transportée sur la scène de l’amphithéâtre de l’Opéra Bastille pour trois représentations (et deux séances scolaires). Dans cette œuvre de « délassement » qui ne précède la première version d’Orphée et Eurydice que de deux ans, Gluck, qui n’est alors plus un compositeur débutant (huit ans auparavant, en 1752, était créé le premier grand chef-d’œuvre, La Clémence de Titus), brille déjà par son sens de l’invention mélodique. Pour mettre la farce au goût du jour, le metteur en scène Alain Patiès a inséré quelques chansons d’aujourd’hui là où le compositeur égrenait de même les airs qu’à son époque tous connaissaient. La mise en scène elle-même revendique une modernité sans anachronisme outrancier, avec des costumes de Gabrielle Tromelin qui évoquent l’univers de Fernando Botero. Le baryton Paul-Alexandre Dubois et le ténor Artavazd Sargsyan endossent de nouveau leurs habits de pochards magnifiques aux côtés d’Estelle Béreau, Guillaume Andrieux et de la mezzo-soprano Marie-Paul Bonnemaison, nouvelle venue dans le rôle de la joyeuse intrigante Mathurine que tenait l’an dernier Edwige Bourdy. Et, sous la direction de Frédérique Chauvet, les musiciens du Barokopera Amsterdam insufflent à l’oeuvre tout l’esprit de la fantaisie baroque.
