Voilà déjà quelques années que La Ribot maniait images, captations et installations vidéo dans ses Pièces distinguées. Active chercheuse transgenre experte en décadrages et en décalages, l’inclassable passe régulièrement les frontières de la danse, de la performance et des arts plastiques. Chez elle, la création s’inscrit toujours dans l’expérimentation et garde trace des lignes qui ont dirigé le travail et qui constituent la mémoire d’un processus singulier, en perpétuel questionnement. Dans Llámame mariachi, La Ribot pousse l’exploration caméra au poing : elle ne filme pas les corps en mouvement, mais capte l’expérience de danser, de se mouvoir dans l’espace en interaction avec l’environnement. « La tentative de trouver l’harmonie est précisément ce que capte la caméra avec ses imprévus, ses approximations, en transmettant une expérience d’ordre physique et intellectuel plutôt que formel et esthétique… ». En dégageant le corps de l’image, Llámame mariachi révèle justement la substance même de la danse, de l’acte chorégraphique.
