Avec le single Aquatrip, en 2013, il nous transportait déjà dans un univers singulier, un « trip aquatique » aux sonorités mystérieuses et hypnotisantes. « Plonge dans mon monde, quelques centaines de secondes » disait-il alors. Dix ans après, c’est dans un programme d’une heure qu’il nous invite. Une heure pour découvrir de manière inédite l’album sorti en 2022, épopée mélodique et rêveuse dans laquelle punchlines habiles se mêlent à une forme de poésie sur l’itinérance.
Un voyage hypnotique à la mise en scène fabuleuse
Avec son parlé inimitable, le rappeur – ancien de la saisissante Secte Phonetik – n’en finit pas de courir les routes du globe (et même au-delà). Avec le compositeur Lucas Dorier, tous deux empruntent aux imaginaires collectifs des contes pour (grands) enfants et conçoivent une épopée vibrante, un rêve en quatre dimensions qui mélange les genres. Dans L’Odyssée d’Hippo, au fil de treize morceaux mis en scène par Christophe Gendreau, les ambiances et les esthétiques défilent : « Le saloon », « L’inuit », « Dans la lune »… Hippocampe Fou déclame entre rap et spoken word, entre humour et émotion, dans un décor qui plonge le spectateur dans une écoute presque sensorielle.
