Après la production exceptionnelle du printemps dernier à la Comédie Française co-signée par Laurent Pelly et Bruno Fontaine, le Centre dramatique national de Sartrouville relève le défi de proposer une nouvelle production de L’Opéra de quat’sous. Laurent Fréchuret souligne l’urgence et l’actualité politique du chef-d’œuvre de Kurt Weill et Bertolt Brecht qu’il décrit comme « une comédie pour résister par le plaisir, démonter joyeusement, et en musique, l’absurdité d’un système et la potentielle cruauté humaine ». « Brecht nous invite à danser sur le volcan, et peut-être, après le spectacle, avec de l’ancien à faire du nouveau, échafauder un autre monde. Il y a dans l’œuvre brechtienne une insolence, une liberté, un sens de la contradiction, un refus des clichés, une jubilation, un humour corrosif, une révolte argumentée, qui invitent le spectateur à une véritable fête théâtrale de l’esprit et des sens » poursuit le metteur en scène qui cite aussi Beckett : « Quand on est dans la merde jusqu’au cou, il ne reste plus qu’à chanter ».
