En dernière de couverture de L’Opérette imaginaire de Novarina, inspiratrice du spectacle, il est écrit que l’opérette, toujours plein-feu, a pour refrain la phrase d’Arthur Cravan : « Il est plus méritoire de découvrir le mystère dans la lumière que dans l’ombre. » C’est pourtant dans l’ombre que tout commence, à l’intérieur de murs dénudés, une caverne rustre de gestation platonicienne où se préparent des promesses de théâtre, sous la baguette magique et inventive de Marie Ballet et Jean Bellorini. Côté jardin, dans l’ombre encore et en-deçà de la scène, l’œil surprend la présence majestueuse d’un quatuor classique, le « Chœur des Enfants de la colère ». C’est le repère à vue de la soprano accordéoniste, de l’alto violoniste, du ténor percussionniste et du violoncelliste qui entament chemin faisant, quelques bribes d’Ave Maria de Gounod et de Schubert, quelques mesuresdu Messie de Haendel en passant par Mozart et Vivaldi, un bonheur implicite et musical à la sonorité raffinée.
Café-théâtre et cabaret d’un côté, grandiloquence de l’autre
Mais dans la lumière du plateau surélevé et sous un collier de guirlandes festives aux lampions colorés, la scène s’illumine grâce à la dimension foraine des chansons populaires et des répliques de l’Acte III de L’Opérette imaginaire. La confrontation des deux univers – café-théâtre et cabaret d’un côté, grandiloquence de l’autre – provoquent des étincelles merveilleuses de rencontre scénique. Vifs, joyeux et engagés, des personnages facétieux invectivent le public, doués d’une parole à l’expression si singulière qu’on les écoute, Anastasie, le E muet, le Valet de Carreau…. Ces figures de clown et de tulle aux couleurs acidulées qu’un rien habille deviennent des rois et des reines de cour. Tous s’inscrivent dans une sincérité joyeuse à vouloir « être », malgré le Mortel (Marion Amiaud) du Prologue qui fait de Poussière une chanson joliment macabre. Les saltimbanques éprouvent ce sentiment existentiel intense qu’ils communiquent dans une belle ivresse du dire.
