Baptême du feu parisien pour cette nouvelle formation comptant parmi les projets les plus inattendus de Frédéric Maurin, le nouveau directeur de l’Orchestre national de jazz. Sous la coordination pédagogique du saxophoniste Jean-Charles Richard, de très jeunes musiciens, issus des cursus supérieurs de la FNEIJMA ou des conservatoires, se rassembleront chaque année pour revisiter un répertoire de l’histoire de l’ONJ sous la direction du directeur musical de l’époque. « Les anciens répertoires de l’ONJ font partie – même si le mot ne plaît pas aux gens du jazz – du patrimoine de la création de notre pays. C’est aussi un outil de repérage et d’accompagnement dans l’insertion professionnelle » souligne Maurin. La machine à remonter le temps s’arrête ce soir sur l’année 1986 : François Jeanneau, à l’âge de 84 ans, renouera, plus de trente ans après, avec les partitions de son ONJ première cuvée. « J’ai tout de suite aimé cette idée de faire revivre toutes ces heures de musiques qui dormaient dans des tiroirs. Diriger cet orchestre est un vrai régal. Tout fonctionne à merveille. Je suis certain que l’orchestre n’aura rien à envier à celui de 1986 » explique François Jeanneau. Prochaine étape : la sortie d’un disque fraîchement enregistré.
