Studio de l’Ermitage / jazz et transmission
C’est en 2019 qu’a été créé cet orchestre à l’initiative de Frédéric Maurin, qui venait tout juste de prendre la direction artistique de l’Orchestre National de Jazz. L’idée ? Constituer chaque année un ensemble d’élèves musiciennes et musiciens, venus de structures d’enseignement nationales et européennes, et lui confier les répertoires constitués depuis plus de trente ans par l’Orchestre National de Jazz. Dans un souci de transmission, la direction de cette pépinière de talents émergents est placée sous la bienveillante autorité d’un ancien directeur de l’ONJ. Pour cette troisième saison, c’est donc le pianiste et compositeur Denis Badault qui officie auprès des dix-huit jeunes originaires de France, d’Allemagne, d’Italie, de Suisse et de Belgique. Réunis cet hiver en région Occitanie où ils ont eu le temps d’affiner et tester cette formule laboratoire sur diverses scènes, ils ont revisité certaines des pages écrites par Badault entre 1991 et 1994, des compositions souvent guidées par la dynamique de groupes chers aux meilleurs grands ensembles du jazz. De quoi promettre de beaux lendemains.
